TOKYO (Reuters): Honda Motor Co said on Thursday it is recalling 693,497 units of the Freed, Fit and City company models globally to fix a faulty spring that could cause the engine to fail to restart in the worst-case scenario.
No accidents have been reported from the defect, a Honda spokeswoman said.
Of the total, Honda is recalling 167,883 Freed and Fit cars in Japan, where it estimates the cost at 3.28 billion yen ($39 million), she said. The rest are mainly in Asia, including China.
