The increasing drive towards eco-friendly automobiles has seen global automobile manufacturers innovating to produce a number of well-known models today. The combination of both a combustion engine and a battery-driven electric motor has seen the birth of ever-popular hybrid, which can be seen on the streets of Sri Lanka in ever increasing numbers.
Unlike the much-maligned, carbon monoxide spewing combustion engine, hybrid vehicles combine the latest in technology to efficiently provide both the power of a standard engine while limiting harmful emissions including deadly sulphur dioxide and a variety of other greenhouse gases which continue to ravage our planet’s ozone layer.
Taking hybrid vehicle maintenance to the next level and providing much-needed expertise and professional services in this category is Hybrid Motors Lanka. The venture, which is a subsidiary of its Singaporean counterpart, is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka and offers state-of-the-art facilities, professional overseas and trained personnel to ensure the best for your hybrid vehicle.
The US$ 500,000 centre, located at Colombo 10, has the capacity to handle up to 15 vehicles a day, while the highly trained technical personnel comprising three Singaporean experts and a British expert are on hand to ensure quality and service guarantee at each step of the evaluation and service process.
In addition, the centre, which was launched in August 2011, whilst offering standard service and fault repair, also aims to promote the green car concept in Sri Lanka, while providing much-needed training and expertise and technical knowhow to local staff.
Elaborating on the services offered at the centre Azli Ismail , the Sales Director for Hybrid Motors Lanka said: “Our concentration at present focuses on Toyota and Honda hybrids, which are the best selling brands in the country. In addition, the company also offers a superlative warranty package for hybrid drive train systems
Eddie Lo the Chairman for Hybrid Motors Lanka also spoke of a few important green tips by pointing out that ,” if you switched to a hybrid car, a full tank can get you 700 kilometres and more. Not only does this save you money, it also reduces the number of trips you make to the petrol station, thus saving you time and you will also be contributing in doing your bit to save the earth.” He also added that Hybrid Vehicles boasts a higher performance with low fuel consumption and stated that a 1.8L Hybrid Car, whilst having a fuel consumption of a 1.0L car, will still have the power of a 2.4L car.
With many years of experience in dealing with all types of Japanese hybrid vehicles, the hybrid specialist in Sri Lanka – Hybrid Motors, has the vision to not only “enhance the standard of workshop quality for future growth in Sri Lanka”, but also to “become the most preferred brand for maintenance of hybrid, MPV, SUV and luxury cars in Sri Lanka”.
