Hyundai Lanka has appointed Millennium Motors Ltd., as its authorised Colombo City Dealer with effect from 13 July. This is to increase its footprint in the country and make the Hyundai brand even more accessible to the public. At present, Hyundai Lanka has 10 dealers across the country. The company is confident that by appointing Millennium Motors as a dealer in Colombo it will further improve its market share in Sri Lanka. It will now be even easier for Colombo customers to buy a Hyundai. Millennium Motors with their first class showroom will display all the new models in future including the Grand i10 which is the most luxurious car in its class and has won several international awards. Furthermore, Hyundai has plans to introduce new and exciting models to their current range.
By the mid-1990s, Hyundai comprised over 60 subsidiary companies and was active in a diverse range of activities including automobile manufacturing, construction, chemicals, electronics, financial services, heavy industry and shipbuilding. In the same period, it had total annual revenues of around $ 90 billion and over 200,000 employees.
Hyundai vehicles are manufactured by the Hyundai Motor Group, which also owns Kia and Genesis, the new Hyundai Group luxury brand. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, Hyundai operates the world’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility in Ulsan, which is capable of producing 1.6 million units annually. The company employs about 75,000 people around the world. Hyundai vehicles are sold in 193 countries through some 6,000 dealerships and showrooms worldwide. In 2012, Hyundai sold over 4.4 million vehicles worldwide. Popular models include the Sonata and Elantra mid-sized sedans as well as a range of SUV’s like the Tucson and the Santa Fe. Hyundai is also one of the biggest manufacturers of small sized cars in the world like the EON and the Grand i10.
Hyundai is ranked 35th in Interbrand’s latest annual global brand value rankings. In fact, it moved up to 6th in global automotive rankings, above Audi, VW, Nissan and Porsche. It is also the fastest growing auto brand since 2005.
The Hyundai Motor Group has also announced a new corporate identity for its dealerships worldwide, which has been labelled the Global Dealership Space Identity (GDSI). The initiative aims to create a unified look at its stores worldwide.The key aspect is to redesign the interior and exterior of its dealerships more elegantly and enhance its brand image.
The GDSI was developed primarily for emerging markets and countries where Hyundai has lacked a facility design programme. The new concept is a collaboration between Hyundai Motor Company and Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, a renowned Austrian architecture firm known for their modern and dynamic designs.Hyundai in rolling out a new corporate identity across its dealer network, switching from blue to bronze as the company’s new official colour. The new corporate identity would be reflected through the main fascia, entrance gate and projecting sign at all main customer touch points. It communicates a strong and distinctive brand image.
The new corporate identity will be able to position a strong brand recall in customers’ minds. It will lead to the establishment of a consistent and enhanced global brand image of Hyundai across the world and provide a better and easily recognisable retail environment for its customers which will help to enhance its brand value.
Overall, the GDSI aims to strengthen Hyundai’s Modern Premium brand proposition by not only improving the look of its sales and service outlets but also its service quality that will offer customers an experience beyond expectations.
