Launch of Sri Lanka’s first luxury motorhome

IWS Leisure (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of the IWS Holdings Group, partners with Auto-Sleepers Group Ltd., the largest distributor of motorhomes since 1973 in the UK, introduced luxury living on wheels to Sri Lanka last week.

One of the more luxurious variants of the extensive auto-sleepers motorhome range was launched on 13 October at the Royal Colombo Golf Club – the Gloucester.

IWS Leisure Chairman Arthur Senanayake is thrilled at the prospect of this new venture aimed at promoting tourism in Sri Lanka. “These new luxury motorhomes are a first of its kind in Sri Lanka and with the extensive range of motorhomes that Auto-Sleepers provides, customers will be spoilt for choice.” 

In the second phase of this venture, he mentioned plans of starting a Caravan Club and to develop caravan camp sites in interesting and scenic locations throughout Sri Lanka. As part of this second phase, IWS Leisure will rent out these luxury motorhomes with a driver to provide tourists and locals alike with the ability to explore the country at the comfort of their own home.   The Gloucester which was launched is part of the Auto-Sleepers Mercedes County range, a series that offers consumers a choice of powerful, economical and technically advanced four cylinder CDI Euro 5 diesel engines. All CDI diesel engines include a six speed manual transmission as standard. Automatic transmission is an option for an even more relaxed drive.

A first in the motorhome industry, the Gloucester model features an electrically adjustable orthopaedic double bed system at the rear. The spacious front lounge area provides comfortable dining for up to six people, where people can relax and entertain. This area may convert into a transverse double bed for sleeping or one can opt for the bed above the cab area. With plentiful storage, a large food preparation area and spacious bathroom, this motorhome is ideal for long-term trips.

Standard safety features include an electronic stability programme, anti-lock braking system, acceleration skid control and start-off assist and electronic brake force distribution. Its powerful 163bhp Mercedes Euro 5 engine has been well acknowledged for the comfortable drive it provides and with its safety features it continues to be a favourite choice for customers seeking luxury.
