MAN Diesel & Turbo launched in Sri Lanka

MAN Diesel & Turbo, the world market leader for large diesel engines for use in ships and power stations and a leading supplier of turbo machines, inaugurated its subsidiary MAN Diesel & Turbo Lanka) Ltd. in Colombo on 11 February while the company’s service brand PrimeServ was launched the following day. The launch event was conducted on the boat 8 Degrees at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo with the participation of prominent guests including the Navy Commander and Chairman of Ceylon Shipping Corporation Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage and Ambassador for Germany in Sri Lanka Dr. Juergen Morhard and another 100 guests from various State-run enterprises. General Manager of MAN Diesel & Turbo Lanka Karthik Nithiyanandam presented the business activities of the company in Sri Lanka and spoke about the advantages and benefits to customers of having the Original Equipment Manufacturer in the country. He also pointed out that MAN Diesel & Turbo can continue contributing to the energy sector of Sri Lanka with the company’s state-of-the-art dual-fuel engine technology which can run on liquid as well as gaseous fuels. The German engineering company employs around 15,000 staff at more than 100 international sites with its head office is situated in Augsburg, Germany and is a company within the power engineering business area of MAN Group of Germany. Over two decades ago the company installed a 170MW capacity diesel engine power plant at Sapugaskanda Power Station of Ceylon Electricity Board as a turnkey project and has been reliably contributing to power generation in the island. MAN Diesel & Turbo was operating through an agency business model over the years and as a part of the company’s global strategy, has set up this new office to directly manage and serve customers.
