Sri Lanka’s top golfing community will be gathering at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club on 21 June for the Mercedes Trophy Sri Lanka Country Finals. Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC, Authorised Distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka, is sponsoring the Mercedes Trophy this year for the 24th consecutive time. This event promises to gather the elite golfing community and boasts to be the most prestigious golfing event in the Sri Lankan sporting calendar. Participation at the event is limited to owners of Mercedes-Benz, Jeep & Chrysler vehicles. Moreover, this is a highly anticipated tournament among the golfing fraternity solely due to the prestige and the rewards, which await the winners. Winners stand the chance to compete in the Mercedes Trophy Asian Finals and if successful, to compete in the World Finals in Germany. The climax of the series is the World Final, which for years has been held traditionally in and around Stuttgart, the “cradle of the automobile”. The sponsorship cheque in this regard was handed over to Captain of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club Christopher Dias by DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage recently at the Mercedes-Benz Centre – ‘DIMO 800’.
