Micro Cars Limited’s most recently introduced, SsangYong’s face lift version of the flagship model Rexton W – a versatile SUV – received immense response for the first three batches of production, resulting in all SUVs being pre-sold. All units were pre-sold prior to its production at Micro Cars Limited’s all new state-of-the-art automated production line at the Polgahawela Industrial Zone. The Rexton W sporting a new engine variant comes equipped witha 2 litre turbo intercooler diesel engine for greater fuel efficiency, a high engine torque that is ideally suited to the Sri Lankan driving conditions with a modern exterior and interior styling.
“Driving the new Rexton 2L SUV is such a pleasure – it’s quiet, smooth with excellent road holding and fingertip maneuvering. In fact the drive to the hills was a wonderful experience with five adults and luggage. For anyone looking for a big SUV at a value for money price, this is certainly the best SUV for them. The face-lift gives it a fresher look and on the road it makes for one smooth drive with Mercedes-Benz E-Tronic transmission which is what most vehicle owners look for. The vehicle refinement has definitely seen some new improvement and it’s ideally suited for everyday use – this is definitely impressive,” said a brand new user of Rexton W and a proud owner of Rexton W 2L, Ranjit De Silva – Managing Director, Abans Tours.
The Rexton W 2L’s Mercedes-Benz E-Tronic 5-speed automatic transmission optimises gear shifting for the best possible driving performance and fuel efficiency. Coupled with an engine output of 190 nm of torque at 1000 rpm, the new transmission is well-suited for the ‘start-stop’ driving conditions on most urban roads. This, together with a newly-developed 8-link independent rear suspension, enables the new Rexton W 2L to be one of the most fuel efficient and comfortable vehicles in its class.
The Rexton W embodies SsangYong Motor’s design philosophy of ‘Premium, Robust and Specialty’, in the sense that it is a high quality and high performance vehicle, includes a tough body as much as its sleek and stylish. Compared to the previous Rexton, the W 2L boasts of enhanced aesthetic features such as a projection lamp with L shaped light guide, chrome radiator grille, fog lamps, LED rear combination lamps and rear spoiler with LED high mounted stop lamp.
The interior upgrade includes a new Beige interior with leather or fabric seats. The unique variant makes the new model more superior in comparison to other similar typed vehicles in the market. The Rexton W 2L is assembled at the recently set-up automated assembly line of Micro Cars.
Plastic Packaging Ltd Chairman/Founder Mervyn Dias who is an existing user of SsangYong vehicles made the decision to purchase the new Rexton W for its robust frame, comfortable drive and great engine features. “This is beyond doubt a great vehicle with a super charge engine. It’s got a dynamic look, great features that are suitable for city driving. How can one go wrong with it? – it’s a strong SUV and one of best, of its class,” he said.
In terms of safety, the Rexton W comes with front and side airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Program and a triple layer ladder chassis for the utmost safety of its passengers. Conveniences in terms of cruise control and front and rear parking sensors have also been included to the new vehicle.
Micro SsangYong Business Unit General Manager Anushka Polonowita said, “I am overwhelmed by the responses we have received from the market. The first three batches ofproductions are already sold out even before the start of our marketing campaign. With the rapid transformation of our infrastructure, business processes, staff and the automated assembly line that was recently inaugurated by His Excellency, The President, I believe Micro Cars will become a serious player not only in the SUV segment but for the automobile industry in Sri Lanka and within the region.”
