Nations Trust Bank PLC recently announced the launch of a special promotion for cars with a cylinder capacity of less than 1,000cc. This offer is available for any unregistered vehicle either brand new or pre-owned (reconditioned), leased from 1 December onward and will be available until 31 March 2015. As part of this promotion, customers would be entitled to a sum of Rs. 5,000 that could be used to tank up on fuel, up to 60% discount on insurance, while documentation charges for these facilities are also waived off. All this will be available at a very attractive lease rental so that customers could truly enjoy the freedom of motoring in their own vehicle. Nations Trust Bank Manager Marketing Leasing Dinesh Yogaratnam speaking on this said: “Vehicle ownership is no more luxury, but a necessity which makes life a bit more convenient and also helps save time and less reliant on public transport for the daily commute.  This promotion is aimed at lowering the ownership cost of a vehicle for the customer given that the typical customer of this class of vehicle would be a first time vehicle buyer, a salaried person or someone looking at owning a second car for the running about of the house.” The pre-Budget speculations spurred demand in this class of asset way back as August 2014. Revisions in the import duty structure have crystallised what was speculated, in that; the price of cars of lower cylinder capacities was reduced. Most dealers, at present, are booking vehicles to be delivered with a lead time of as much as three months. These cars, most of which are hatch back in their form of styling, are very well suited for inner city travel, as they are easily maneuverable and also offer an enviable level of fuel efficiency. Brand new vehicles are the mainstay in the below 1,000cc category. Cars of Indian origin are considered dominant in this segment, while those of Sri Lankan origin are also popular. Yogaratnam added: “We are confident that this offer will be well received in the market, since this is a very attractive proposition to the customer and Nations Trust Bank in renowned for its customer centric approach, flexibility and fast processing of facilities.” Nations Trust Bank PLC is one of the fastest growing banks in Sri Lanka today. Its market positioning of being the benchmark of customer convenience is ably supported by a host of financial products and services offered to a wide range of customers. The bank now operates 89 branches, an ATM network of 123 locations and is the issuer and sole acquirer for American Express Cards in Sri Lanka.
