Yamaha has recently revolutionised the personal watercraft market with the introduction of its new NanoXcel technology.
Since 1986 Yamaha has long been a champion of personal water craft technology, and now with nearly 30 years of expertise in the field, their latest WaveRunners feature technology from tomorrow offered today. Thanks to Yamaha’s pioneering innovation, the latest marine craft from the Japanese manufacture now features Nano Technology.
Thanks to Yamaha’s unique understanding that reducing weight can improve total performance, they have continuously been improving their weight-saving techniques. In addition to the performance benefits, the new lightweight construction has also brought about reduced fuel consumption.
Yamaha was looking for a material or technology that could be incorporated into SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) material with a potential to reduce the overall weight. SMC material is the primary constituent of personal water craft hulls, and any advances in construction materials translate to a much better package for riders and passengers.
After identifying a candidate ingredient, exfoliated clay, which is created by nanotechnology, Yamaha was successful in developing a new SMC material called NanoXcel that is 25% lighter than standard SMC. This unprecedented weight saving lends to an increased top speed, quicker acceleration, and improved response.
What’s more, the WaveRunners are now more durable, more fuel efficient and have an even smoother finish to them. Yet another benefit of the NanoXcel technology is that the new manufacturing process is more eco-friendly too.
The new Yamaha Waverunners are the pinnacle in performance, luxury and versatility. It is nearly a second faster to 30kmph than its nearest rival, whilst being more fuel efficient by over one kilometre per litre! This translates into a staggering average range of 167 kilometres, much further than competitor’s ranges of just over 110 kilometres.
Associated Motorways Ltd. has been Yamaha’s exclusive importer for over 33 years. Established in 1949, a pioneer in the country’s tyre retreading industry, Associated Motorways Ltd., popularly known as AMW, is a highly respected company in Sri Lanka with 65 years of service experience.
