In line with the positive development of Porsche worldwide, Porsche Asia Pacific Pte Ltd announced the encouraging total sales in the first half of the year 2011. Based on the closing figures (1 January to 30 June 2011), PAP records sales of 2,010 vehicles, a more than double increase in comparison to the previous first half of the year in 2010.
The major contributor of this significant increase is the popular Porsche models – Cayenne and Panamera (55 per cent and 27 per cent out of the total regional sales).
Since the start of the sales in July 2010, the new Cayenne received overwhelming positive response and Porsche dealers accumulated high order numbers. The total number of new Cayenne sold to date since the introduction is 1,700. The total of the new Cayenne sold within the first half of this year is 1,100 cars.
The second model contributing to the success for Porsche in the Asia Pacific region is the Panamera with eight variants in total and three of that were introduced this year. The four-door Gran Turismo model is appealing especially to the Asian market and records 546 sales this year to end of June (+101 per cent compared to same period last year).
Among the markets within the region, Taiwan contributes 32 percent while South Korea contributes 30 per cent of the total sales of Porsche in the region Asia Pacific, whereas Singapore and Malaysia provides 14 and 10 per cent respectively. Sales in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam constitute 12 per cent of total sales in the region.
Christer Ekberg, Managing Director of Porsche Asia Pacific, said: “The ever-increasing demand for our cars is a clear indication that Porsche is growing fast in Asia, not only gaining strength from the sports car segment, especially the iconic 911, but also broadening our existence and business through the Panamera as well as the top seller Cayenne. Considering the current positive sales trend, I am confident that we will be able to achieve more than last year in the Asia Pacific region.”
