The annual dealer convention of the Richard Pieris Tyre Company was held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo recently. Out of the company’s 1,500 strong dealers, persons who have delivered best results had the honour of receiving their awards from Richard Pieris and Company PLC Group Director Sunil Liyanage and General Manager Pradeep Samaratunga.
Although 50 sales agents were invited in the previous years to the dealer convention this year due to the stiff competition amongst the dealers the company invited 100 sales agents and 25 exceptional individuals or innovators.
As has been the practice this time too special awards were presented to the Tyre Retreading sector and Tyre Trading sector.
Shanthi Tyre Mart Ltd. Dikwella Managing Director H.M.T.J. Shanthiratne clinched the all island award in the Tyre Retreading sector as the best dealer while the second and third places in the category were secured by Sisira Tyre House, Rambukkana Proprietor W.A.W.W. Sisira Kumara and Jayanthi Tyre Centre, Balangoda Proprietor H.A.C.P. Devika.
Similarly, the prestigious award for the best dealer of the Tyre Trading sector (covering the whole island) was secured by Hiruni Tyre House, Pannala owner I.A. Karunatilleke.
Second prize in this category was clinched by Regal Marketing, Addalaichani Proprietor Abdul Fattah.
This prestigious occasion at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel also saw the launch of the newest tyre of the company, Arpidag Hybrid to the Sri Lankan market.
Addressing at the award ceremony, Richard Pieris Tyre Company General Manager Pradeep Samaratunga said, the company’s core objective is to introduce world-class products to the Sri Lankan marketplace via its strong and dedicated sales agents island wide.
“We will constantly strive to sustain and add value to the standards of our products and offer them timely at affordable prices to our customers,” added Samarathunga.
Richard Pieris Tyre Company was formed in 1932. In 1942, the company ventured into rebuilding tyres creating history as the Sri Lanka’s pioneering tyre rebuilding company.
Ever since then the company went from strength to strength and in 1991 with the association of USA’s BANDAG Company, ‘ARPIDAG’ Tyre was introduced to the local market. This was a revolutionary step taken by a local company dealing with tyres.
Richard Pieris Tyre Company being the biggest tyre rebuilding company in Sri Lanka, currently supplies over 50,000 DAG tyres and conventional type rebuilt tyres during a month to the local market.
