Sachin Tendulkar unveils BMW 7-series

Reuters: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the new-generation Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) 7-series at the recently concluded Auto Expo in Greater Noida in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

The new BMW 7 series sedan is based on cluster-architecture real wheel drive platform (CLAR).

The luxury car is equipped with strong LED tail lamps, Laserlight headlamps, eight different options of fragrance, upgraded 5.0-inch iDrive system with touchscreen and gesture control and a smart car key to enable the user to know about the features and fuel tank without actually touching the car.

“These are laser lights. It is unreal because it has a range of 600 metres. Also, when I had the key, for a second I thought that it was the driver’s cell phone. It’s a big key providing you all the details about the car. So, you need not actually get inside the car to figure out how much fuel I have in the car. Sitting in the office or at home, you could just look at the key, what is the driving range,” said ambassador of BMW, Tendulkar.

Head of BMW India, Philipp von Sahr, said the car has improved fuel efficiency. The innovative three litre six cylinder diesel engine accelerates from 0-100 in just 6.2 seconds to a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour.

BMW has used carbon fibre, steel, aluminium and plastic in its construction calling it carbon core structure. Meanwhile, Indian cricket captain ViratKohli and Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt launched the new R8 V10 Plus.

The new model is lighter and flatter than its predecessors. The gloss carbon element gives it a motor-racing look.

It has 19 inch forged aluminium and 5-twin-spoke titanium finish alloy wheels.

The V10 plus is multifunction and has four control satellite switches. The sound for the Engine start-up, exhaust, driving dynamics and gear changes can be controlled from the buttons on the steering wheel. The fully customisable Audi Virtual Cockpit puts all the information directly in front of the driver. It has a high quality sound system and deluxe automatic air conditioning with sun sensor.

The engine of the new model employs a special cylinder-on-demand technology. The fuel injection and ignition are switched off depending on the driving condition.
