Sri Lanka Super Series third round on 10-11 May

The third round of the Sri Lanka Super Series 2014 motor races will be held at the Katukurunda Air Force Track when the Katukurunda Circuit Meet will see the awesome combination of screaming engines and quality manoeuvring skills on 10 and 11 May. The Sri Lanka Super Series 2014, organised by Carlton Motor Sports Club (CMSC) in conjunction with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) and Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC), introduced a revolutionary concept in motor racing in Sri Lanka. The series promises to turn a new chapter in Sri Lankan motor sports history by elevating local racing talent to top international standards. Turning a new chapter in the history, champion riders and drivers at the end of the six stages of the Sri Lanka Super Series will be awarded Sri Lanka Colours in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports. The race day will see top class drivers in the calibre of Ashan Silva, Pasindu Peiris, Janaka Dias, Aravinda Premadasa and Missaka Naveen behind the steering wheels in the SLGT Cars up to 3500cc class which is considered as the fastest event of the day. The other events will see seasoned and talented drivers in such as Dinesh Jayawardena, Upulwan Serasinghe, Kushan Peiris and Sajaad Zuhair in action while a tough challenge is expected by the others who will be looking forward to shine on the podium. Meanwhile the popular names among the riders will be Maduranga Caldera, Ned Daniel, Sriyan Samuels, Thusitha Gunasekara, Ananda Wedisinghe, Udika Srimal Malawige, Suraj Perera and the two little brothers, Jaden and Aaron Gunawardena. The events which will be worked off on the Historical Katukurunda Air Force runway will include Group ‘SLH’ Cars up to 1000CC, Group ‘SLH’ Cars up to 1600CC, Group ‘SLS’ Cars up to 1500CC, Group ‘SLGT’ Cars up to 3500CC, Group ‘SLF’ Formula McLarens 1300CC (Carburetor) and Group ‘SLF’ Formula McLarens 1300CC (EFI). The events for two wheelers are Group ‘Super SM’ Super Motard Bikes Over 175CC up to 250CC (2T) and Over 290CC up to 450CC (4T) and Group ‘M’ Modified Motorcycles Open Over 250CC (4 Stroke). The Sri Lanka Super Series 2014 include six races that will take place in various locations across the island throughout the year and the first two rounds were held at Katukurunda and Tissamaharama respectively.
