World’s most capable and luxurious SUV launches in Sri Lanka
SML Frontier Automotive Ltd. launched the ‘All New’ Range Rover, at a special press conference on Wednesday.
“Lighter, stronger and more refined, the world’s finest luxury SUV, the All New Range Rover, a modern interpretation of iconic design cues is now available to Sri Lankan motor enthusiasts,” sole agents for Land Rover in Sri Lanka SML Frontier Automotive Managing Director Sheran Fernando said.
The All-New Range Rover features a revolutionary all-aluminium monocoque body structure, which is 39% lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model. Continuing Land Rover’s leadership in such aerospace-inspired, high-performance lightweight structures, the all-aluminium body enables the new vehicle to significantly enhance both performance and efficiency.
The new Range Rover’s unmatched breadth of capability is also reflected in its tremendously strong structure with enhanced body geometry for all-terrain conditions, and a best in class off roader ability. The new Range Rover has been subjected to Land Rover’s punishing on and off-road test and development regime, with a fleet of development vehicles covering countless thousands of miles over 18 months of arduous tests in over 20 countries with extremes of climate and road surfaces.
Range Rovers are renowned for providing occupants a sensation of calming isolation from the hectic world outside and the new model has been engineered to meet the highest luxury car standards for refinement.
By bringing together these three aspects, the biggest difference can be seen to the eventual owners of the new Range Rover. The lighter body ensures that the vehicle is far more fuel efficient, which is evidenced through a dramatic 22% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, achieving figures of 37.7mpg (7.5 lit/100km) and 196g/km. The Range Rover is still extremely rugged thanks to the industry-leading innovation of a ground-breaking next-generation version, Terrain Response® system, which analyses the current driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings.
“Customers are thus the reason we developed a whole new vehicle that takes its owners on not just a drive but also a whole new adventure. That is why Land Rover owners are the pinnacle of a brand that they believe in and want to be a part of,” said Fernando.
“When we asked our customers what they wanted us to change, they told us don’t change it, just make it better,” said Land Rover Marketing Manager Paul Baylis.
The fourth generation of the unique Range Rover line, the all-new model has been developed from the ground up. It captures the innovative spirit and iconic design of the original model, which changed the world of motoring when it was launched over 40 years ago.
“The best just got better,” said Fernando.
