The vintage car parade was organised for the 60 years celebrations of Sri Lankan-German Diplomatic Relations. This vintage car parade comprised of Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen Beetles and Porsche classic cars.
Some of the vintage cars that were presented were 60 years and above. The vintage car parade made its way through Galle Road and ended at Nelum Pokuna Road, the site of the German Embassy Street Festival.
The Kingsbury hosted dignitaries such as the Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzammil, German Ambassador in Sri Lanka Dr. Jürgen Morhard, DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage and DIMO Group CEO Gahanath Pandithage, who ceremonially opened the street festival which started at The Kingsbury.
Afterwards some of the vintage cars remained at the street festival for people to see these beautifully maintained classic cars. One of the key significant aspects of having this vintage car parade was that connections with Germany go beyond 60 years and the connection people have made with Germany is with the love of German cars.
