The King’s colours – blue, white and red – dazzled the streets of Colombo as the British Car Day paved way to an emblematic British feast at The Kingsbury on 16 March. The British Car Day was organised by the Classic Car Club of Ceylon with the support of SML Frontier Automotive Ltd., sole agents for Land Rover in Sri Lanka. This event gave the public an opportunity to feast their eyes on some spectacular cars of British manufacture, including Aston Martin, Lotus, MG, Triumph, Rolls Royce, Austin, Morris, Ford and many more. More than 65 British-manufactured classic cars participated in this rally to celebrate British Car Day in Sri Lanka, which began at Town Hall grounds and made their way to The Kingsbury, where these cars were gloriously displayed for all classic car enthusiasts to feast their eyes on. It is only justifiable that an exclusive event such as this deserves an equally exclusive setting as The Kingsbury. Undoubtedly, The Kingsbury proliferated to making this event a vast celebration by putting together a grand buffet spread for Sunday Brunch which gave true meaning to its name; Classic British Brunch. The spread included a variety of mouth-watering delicacies from British mainland such as Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Mushroom and Kidney Pie, Pates and Terrines and much more. Guests were enthralled as to how The Kingsbury had honoured British cuisine to the very precise tastes and setting. Yet another novelty experience by The Kingsbury.
