Toyota Lanka opens new body repair and paint centre

Toyota Lanka opened its newest state of the art Body Repair and Paint Centre recently in Wattala. Located in close proximity to its corporate headquarters (Toyota Plaza), the Toyota Lanka Body and Paint Centre (BPC) becomes the first automobile integrator to revolutionise body repair and paint service standards in Sri Lanka. This new facility is also the home for world’s prestigious and renowned Italian tire brand Pirelli in Sri Lanka and is equipped with high tech equipment to cater to the tire requirements of all kinds of vehicles including most premier automotive brands. Toyota Lanka Managing Director Yoshiaki Kato said: “It is our duty as the official distributor of Toyota, to provide our valued customers with the best facilities and expertise to repair and restore their vehicles back to their original conditions. The establishment is another symbol of our efforts of further enhancing after sales services to customer service.” He further emphasised that this BP centre is mainly targeting heavy and medium accident repairs and small repairs like bumper repairs and touch ups can be accommodated at service facilities at the Wattala head office, Ratmalana and Maharagama. Speaking at the grand opening, Chief Operating Officer Manohara Atukorala said Toyota Lanka has revolutionised collision repair standards saying: “Toyota, places great emphasis on safety, quality and durability of their vehicles and reliability of after-sales services including collision repairs and paint work. Therefore, we dedicate this state-of-the-art BP facility to be the benchmark resembling our global standards.” Speaking further he expressed his gratitude to customers who placed their trust in Toyota Lanka since its inception in 1995. “Continuing our global standards, this BPC is infused and equipped to undertake all kinds of accidental repairs and paint work of Toyota and HINO vehicles.” The new BPC possesses a high quality competent team of Toyota BP technicians and service engineers trained in various countries around the world including Toyota Motor Corporation Japan and at the region’s training centre Bahrain. In adhering to global manufacturer’s stringent service standards, the highest quality workmanship is delivered through Special Service Tools (SSTs), Computerised Colour Scanning, Electronic Measuring Systems for alignments on the body/frame and also advanced welding machines such as mig and spot welders. The facility also consists of an in-house three-tier parking facility for over 200 vehicles that guarantee the safety of overnight parking of your repaired vehicles. General Manager Service/CR Mathisha Samaranayake said: “The world class infrastructure in BPS, Wattala will ensure that the vehicle regains its elegance and the accuracy in assembling to its originality in the best Toyota Repair Quality Standards.” To coincide with 15 years of commencing business at its corporate headquarters in Wattala (Toyota Plaza), Toyota Lanka announced the launching of a CSR campaign focusing on improving road safety and awareness of road rules, traffic signs, road markings and traffic signals. The CSR campaign also addressed issues such as drunk driving and increasing road accidents. In addition, Toyota Lanka partnered with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society to provide first aid packs and traffic control equipment to school children. Chief Guest of the opening was the Ambassador of Japan Nobuhito Hobo and Minister of Petroleum Industries Anura Priyadarshana Yapa. Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama and Minister of Public Relations and Public Affairs Dr. Mervin Silva also graced the occasion. Representing the brand owners, General Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation Koji Nagata, General Manager of Toyota Tsusho Corporation Japan Shiro Irikawa, Pirelli Tires General Manager Sanjay Mathur and Pirelli Tire Marketing Manager Pierre Olivier participated at the event.
