Unicorn enters to retreading market with two new retreading plants

Unicorn Tyre Retreads Ltd is the newest player in the arena of tyre retreading in Sri Lanka. The two state-of-the-art tyre retreading plants of Unicorn Tyre Retreads Ltd were commissioned recently at the Industrial Zone in Panaluwa, Watareka. Unicorn Tyre Retreads Ltd. Managing Director Asanga Ratnayake and many distinguished guests graced the occasion. The two units at Lot 2F and Lot B of the industrial zone strictly adhere to the ‘green concept’ and are capable of retreading 6,000 tyres in a month both in ‘Cold process’ and the conventional rebuilding method, ‘hot process’. Unicorn’s core competency is to provide an exceptional tyre with an unmatched service at an affordable price to its customers. Now Unicorn retreaded tyres could be acquired via a network of dealers throughout the island. Ratnayake said at the inauguration ceremony, Unicorn is all set to retread 10,000 tyres in a month by 2015. He said the workforce, sales force and the dealer network will be enhanced to achieve this objective. “The specialty in Unicorn tyre is its symmetric tread design which facilitates a greater grip with the road and a comfortable ride. Facilitating long-mileage usage is another attribute of the product; hence the company backs the tyre with mileage limited tread wear warranty. Thus the vehicle owners will derive their money’s worth by using Unicorn tyres,” said the managing director. He added, “Unicorn will be a top-of-the-mind name of vehicle users when it comes to innovation. We are at present working on a new product to cater to off-road needs. This tyre with an extra deep tread pattern will be an industry leading product. Thus dealers and the vehicle users can be rest assured that Unicorn will rub shoulders with the market leaders.” According to Ratnayake, the objective of forming Unicorn Tyre Retreads has been to offer a superior and long-lasting product benchmarking with newest global standards to local vehicle users and to offer tyre dealers the very first true alternative to the market leaders.
