VW Beetle Owners’ Club adds colour to Hilton Colombo’s Silver Jubilee celebrations

This year the 13th Annual Pride of Ownership drive hosted by the Volkswagen Beetle Owners Club took place in collaboration with Hilton-Colombo’s 25th year anniversary. The traditional start-off for the event held on the 25th of March 2012 began from the Hilton Colombo with their General Manager flagging off the jubilee activities.

The Pride of Ownership drive has become a main event in the Clubs Calendar since it was kick started 13 years ago. The 13th Annual Pride of Ownership drive not only added to the Hilton Colombo’s festivities but also transformed Colombo for a day as the vivid glossy VW Beetles cruised along the roads of Colombo bringing colour and the distinctive vintage cars onto the roads. With over 50 beetles in vibrant hues of colors from all over the country participating in the event, it truly was a memorable event for all car lovers.

Commenting on the colourful event, Rudolf Tröstler, General Manager, Hilton Colombo stated: ‘‘this year with our special 25th anniversary celebrations we continued a tradition of ours as we started off the Annual Pride of Ownership drive from our grounds. The VW Beetle is an iconic car and as such this was an exceptional event that complemented our activities.’’

This year’s drive also featured “Road Safety” to make certain members were kept up-to-date on the new road safety rules along with other safety related matters pertaining to road use in Sri Lanka.  Following on from the drive, drivers and guests attended a fellowship lunch along with an awards ceremony with a unique “give-away”. With a host of surprises lined-up, everyone who attended had a memorable day with the event adding a distinctive colour to Hilton Colombo’s celebrations. As this year, Hilton Colombo celebrates 25 years of service excellence, continuing to be the trendsetters in the industry and delivering on Conrad Hilton’s vision of spreading the light and warmth of hospitality, in Sri Lanka.
