The Volkswagen Beetle Owners’ Club, having a membership of over 300, has come-up with a vibrant event called ‘VW – The Legend Lives On’ on Saturday 29 November. The Club hosted many events to celebrate the diamond jubilee anniversary y of VW in Sri Lanka in the previous year, and is delighted to note of the keen interest shown towards the ‘Beetle’ loving community which brought about the organising of this event. The event includes a fun rally followed by a carnival along with Legends 96.6FM which will provide the legendary tunes from the ’60s up to the ’90s, making it a fun-filled event that is open to all to come over and be a part of the action. The event will be held at the Excel World, situated at Darley Road, Colombo 10 from 3 p.m. onwards in partnership with Legends 96.6FM, which shares the love and passion for the diminutive ‘Bug’ and has come forward to join hands with the VW Beetle Owners’ Club and Senok Automobiles to make this event a resounding success. The VW Beetle Owners’ Club will map out a fun rally that will be planned out by the maestro Ruwan Weerawardana, who has handled many such events to his credit and will welcome all owners of VWs, regardless of their age or model, whether air cooled or water cooled, to join in this unique event amongst the VW-owning fraternity of Lanka. The rally will be flagged off at Excel World and end at the same venue, followed by the awards ceremony. The fun and frolic will continue with the legendary 96.6FM providing the tunes whilst an array of food stalls will churn out delights at the carnival which will carry on late into the night. The public are warmly welcome to be a part of this unique motoring event and join the fun at the carnival amongst the VW-loving community in Lanka.
