Ideal Green Tech Ltd., established in 2013 by Nalin Welgama and been in operation for more than 11 years, is recognised by Sri Lanka’s Sustainable Authority and handles all solar power-related projects, utility scale in both the commercial and residential sectors.
Ideal Green Tech Ltd. (IGPL) has been dedicated with the intention of providing top-notch installations while strictly adhering to standards and regulations. The company is governed by the SLS standards, IEC and IEEE standards, as well as the directives provided by PUCSL and SEA.
As an accountable corporation, IGPL places a high priority on equipment safety and human safety, understanding that these are critical factors in the operations. Under BS 7671:2018 Amendment 2, solar installations are classified as special installations, which emphasises the need for strong safety and protection mechanisms.
When reviewing the accomplishments to date of IGPL, it is important to note that the company has developed 140 off-grid solutions in Uchchamunai, a harsh condition area in the Northwest of Kalpitiya (fisherman’s homes, ports, and other structures). Additionally, IGPL executed solar on grid projects for the Udawalawa office of the Medical Officer of Health, Balangoda Base Hospital, and Kalthota Divisional Hospital in the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.

SLS 1522, which was introduced in 2016, introduced particular guidelines for solar PV systems that are connected to the grid. These requirements guarantee that every component—including PV panels and inverters—meets strict quality standards by means of recognised certificates. IGPL utilises many of the leading inverters and PV panels currently available on the market. This includes panels from brands such as JA, Longi, Jinko, Trina, and Risen, and inverters from Growatt, Sungrow, Huawei, DEYE, SMA, Solis, and FIMER. At present, projects with a capacity of 100kW are underway.

The PV inverter comes with a 10-year product warranty while the PV panels offer a 12-year product warranty and a 25-year performance warranty. During the first year, customer receives two complimentary services. Furthermore, the customer is encouraged to entitle for an annual maintenance contract with IGPL which can be renewed each year.
IGPL is committed to advancing sustainable energy development and supports the government plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. IGPL aims to ensure that 70% of energy comes from renewable sources. Renewable sources mainly from solar PV and also, SEA has a target to add solar PV to the national grid by 150MW-160MW annually.
