Aramex announced its recent achievement in winning the Gold Award at the National Logistics Awards 2024 in the ‘International and Local Courier’ category. This award certifies Aramex’s best-in-class status in Sri Lanka and re-establishes its commitment to excellence.
Hosted by the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA) at the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo, the awards acknowledge individuals and organisations linked to the Sri Lankan logistics sector, aiming to enhance industry standards. The awards ceremony, supported by 28 organisations, including Sri Lanka Customs and the Ports and Shipping Ministry, emphasised the value of cooperation and acknowledgement in the logistics industry.
The Gold Award is a significant recognition that singles out companies for their exceptional achievements in various industry markers, including innovation, compliance, and sustainability, as well as contributions to collaboration with country stakeholders to improve the Sri Lankan logistics sector. For Aramex, it underscores the company’s commitment to Sri Lanka during the past few challenging years and its innovative approach to the sector, which went beyond just off-the-shelf solutions.
“I am incredibly proud of the team for winning this award for the very first time,” said Aramex Vice President – South Asia Samer Hajjar. “This achievement is a testament to our team’s remarkable capabilities and service excellence. We are grateful to the SLFFA for this honour and everyone who has believed in what we do.”
Aramex’s achievements in Sri Lanka are stories of collaboration, trust, and growth, alongside its partners and customers, in an often-challenging operational environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aramex faced unprecedented challenges, yet remained the only international courier company to remain fully operational across the country. It supported the private and public sectors amidst an unprecedented global crisis, shaping the company and deepening its roots with customers and the community.
Aramex’s work with the Customs and Aviation Authority and Export Development Board of Sri Lanka, in compliance with sector regulations, laid a solid foundation for building its role as an industry leader. Moreover, with its early successes in eco-mobility, Aramex found opportunities to expand its impact by launching the first electric fleet vehicle in the country in 2017, transforming how it engages with the industry.
After reaching these initial milestones, Aramex strengthened its efforts and continues supporting customs and aviation services with best practices and process designs that match international standards. The company also continues to work closely with the narcotics department to support efforts to eradicate drug and illegal substance challenges in the country.
Aramex continues to grow private-public partnerships, such as leading the design of a courier hub in Sri Lanka that will enhance transhipment trade in the express sector and create more efficient synergies between the freight and the express sectors, greatly benefitting Sri Lanka’s exports in business-to-business and commerce.
Behind all these achievements is a team of dedicated individuals whose efforts and perseverance have driven Aramex forward every step of the way. This was reaffirmed when the team in Sri Lanka won the ‘Best Employer Brand Award for 2024’ at the 19th Employer Branding Awards. The recognition reflects the company’s achievements and the efforts of every employee who continuously supports and inspires Aramex’s pursuit of excellence. Their dedication is not just a source of pride, but also an inspiration for the leadership team at the company.
“Every team member has played a vital role in our success,” noted Sri Lanka Country Manager Sanjay Samarasinghe. “The Gold Award recognises their hard work, innovative spirit, and tireless commitment to the Aramex mission. We are a team that is always moving forward and striving to improve. It is inspiring to work with people who believe so strongly in what we are building together.”
Receiving the Gold Award reaffirms the company’s position as a leader in logistics and encourages the team to continue striving for excellence. As Aramex looks to the future, it will continue raising industry standards and creating solutions that its clients and community can count on. From refining products to exploring more sustainable practices, Aramex is driven to keep moving in the right direction.
Aramex’s commitment is not just a promise, but a reassurance that it is dedicated to making a positive impact. The company will invest in a new electric fleet vehicle in 2025 to further its commitment to environmental sustainability and expand facilities to cater to increasing demand in Sri Lanka.
This award is a shared success and a reflection of the collaborative partnerships that enable Aramex to deliver exceptional results and make a meaningful impact in the industry. The company is deeply grateful to its clients, partners, and stakeholders for their continued trust and support.
