12 CMC employees arrested for gambling

12 employees attached to the Colombo Municipal Council who had allegedly been involved in unlawful gaming at an office belonging to the CMC had been arrested and were produced before Court by Slave Island police.



When they were produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, they were ordered to pay Rs. 100 crown cost. Meanwhile, the Magistrate further imposed a fine of Rs. 1,500 on one of CMC employees for obstructing Court proceedings by sounding a ringing tone in open court when the judicial inquiries were proceeding.
