13 more new heads of overseas missions

The Government has appointed another 13 new ambassadors and high commissioners to its overseas missions, the Foreign Affairs Ministry announced.

New envoys have been named to Austria, China, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Myanmar, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.

Accordingly, the following appointments have been made:

Priyani Wijesekara – Ambassador to Austria

Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku – Ambassador to China

D.S.L. Pelpola – Ambassador to Italy

Darshana Perera – Ambassador to Indonesia

A.L.M. Lafeer – Ambassador to Jordan

K.W.M.D.Karunaratne – Ambassador to Myanmar

M.S. Anwar – Ambassadorto Palestine

A.M. Thaseem – Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Nimal Weeraratna – High Commissioner to Singapore

Sunil De Silva – HighCommissioner to South Africa

C.M. Anzar – Ambassador to Turkey

S.J. Mohideen – Ambassador to UAE

Vadivel Krishnamoorthy – Deputy Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Chennai
