Meanwhile, Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said over 95.9% of the over 30 population in Colombo District have received at least one dose of a COVD-19 vaccine.
“The main focus is on the above 30 population. If we complete administering the first dose to them by 30 August, the person who receives the first dose on 30 August will receive the second dose on 15 October. Thus, 15 October will be special as a significant portion of the population will be protected by then,” Prof. Jayasumana said.
In addition to this, an investigation has been launched into an incident where an individual from Udaperadeniya was mistakenly administered two doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.
While the individual experienced side effects like dizziness and pain and sought medical treatment, the Ganawata Koralaya MOH will be required to submit a report on the incident to the Kandy Regional Director of Health.
