A batch of two million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine are due to arrive in the island today, with a total of 5.6 million doses of the vaccine expected by the first week of August.
Sri Lanka has received 9.1 million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, including today’s batch.
The country’s COVID-19 immunisation program on Tuesday administered either the first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 257,033 persons.
This includes 130,596 persons who received the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 238,383 persons in total.
The Epidemiology Unit stated that on Tuesday 95,037 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 12,655 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm. In total, the first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 4,748,225 persons and the second dose to 1,313,337 persons.
On Tuesday, 18,745 persons received the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, raising the number of persons who had received the first dose of the vaccine to 67,826.
The Sputnik V first dose has been administered to 159,081 persons and the second dose to 14,464 persons.
In addition to this, 925,242 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 385,885 persons the second dose.
In total, the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 6,138,757 persons and the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 1,713,686 persons.
