2 million doses of Sinopharm expected today

• Over 350,000 persons vaccinated on Thursday

A consignment of two million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine is due to arrive in Sri Lanka today, raising the number of Sinopharm doses received in August to seven million.

At present, the Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sputnik V, and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are being administered in the country.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 12,255,121 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 6,464,296 persons have received both doses. Second dose coverage in the country’s population over the age of 30 is 57.3%.

On Thursday, 384,091 persons received the first or second dose of a vaccine, including 24,194 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 254,794 persons who received the second dose of Sinopharm. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to a total of 9,665,009 persons, of which 4,863,109 have received the second dose as well.

Eight persons received the first dose of Moderna on Thursday and 49,520 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. A total of 771,449 persons have received the first dose of Moderna to date and 543,959 have received the second dose.

The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 3,020 persons on Thursday and the second dose was administered to 45,470 persons. The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to a total of 305,639 persons, of which 150,001 have received the second dose as well.

On Thursday, the first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 6,577 persons and the second dose to 508 persons. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to a total of 1,353,936 persons and the second dose to 881,738 persons.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 159,088 persons have received the first dose of Sputnik V and 25,489 persons have received the second dose as well.
