The High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and Maldives has announced this year’s Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) partners.

The following organisations are the recipients this year: Centre for Human Rights and Development; Colombo Friends in Need Society; Comdu.it; Chrysalis; Media Law Forum; Save the Beach Maldives; Transparency International Sri Lanka; Verité Research and Women & Democracy.

The CFLI supports and empowers organisations addressing local issues while strengthening ties with civil society and local communities. This year, the CFLI will contribute to promoting and advancing inclusive governance, women’s empowerment, environment and climate action and growth that works for everyone in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

By helping local organisations address issues that matter to them – including preserving ecosystems, fighting corruption, providing much needed equipment to improve the lives of amputees or expanding women entrepreneurs’ access to markets – Canada is honoured to contribute towards more inclusion and prosperity in Sri Lanka and Maldives

The CFLI is a highly competitive and sought out program that supports small-scale, high-impact projects designed and implemented mainly by local partners. We take this occasion to acknowledge all of the excellent proposals that we received and were unable to fund this year. The next CFLI call for proposals should take place in March-April 2022.
