21A to Cabinet today

The 21st Amendment to the Constitution Bill will be presented to Cabinet for approval by Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe today.

The Bill is being presented after Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe held several rounds of talks with political parties to reach on consensus on some of the contents of the Bill.

The Prime Minister’s office said that after the talks held on Friday, a general consensus was reached between all Parties regarding several key points.

If the Bill gets Cabinet approval today, it will be published in the Gazette and then presented to Parliament.
