23 COVID-19 deaths confirmed, fatalities rise to 850

Twenty three COVID-19 deaths were yesterday confirmed by health authorities and the country’s COVID-19 fatalities have risen to 850.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 61-year-old individual from Polonnaruwa, a 70-year-old individual from Pilimathalawa, and an 82-year-old individual from Elkaduwa are among the deaths that occurred yesterday.

A 57-year-old individual from Thalawakale, a 58-year-old individual from Menikhinna, a 65-year-old individual from Polonnaruwa also died yesterday.

Health authorities confirmed that the deaths of a 46-year-old individual from Moronthuduwa, a 49-year-old individual from Maharagama, a 77-year-old individual from Halthota that occurred yesterday were COVID-19 related.

On Monday, an 85-year-old individual and a 63-year-old individual from Matale died of COVID-19 related reasons. A 57-year-old individual from Panadura died of COVID pneumonia and asthma on Monday.

On 9 May, a 70-year-old individual from Moratuwa, a 76-year-old individual from Halgran Oya, a 77-year-old individual from Matara, and a 76-year-old individual from Talgaswela passed away.

Deaths that occurred on 8 May include that of an 84-year-old individual from Ratmalana and a 79-year-old individual from Pathana.

A 77-year-old individual from Matale, a 64-year-old individual from Madulkale and an 80-year-old individual from Kelaniya are among the COVID-19 deaths that occurred on 7 May.

On 6 May, a 57-year-old individual from Madulkale died of COVID-19 with heart disease at the Madulkale Divisional Hospital and the previous day, an 80-year-old individual from Waskaduwa died of heart disease with pneumonia.
