23 COVID-19 fatalities confirmed

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 15,949 after health officials confirmed 23 COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday.

Fifteen persons over the age of 60 and eight persons between 30 and 59 years are among the COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Thursday. Zero COVID-19 deaths were confirmed from the under-30 age group on Thursday.

Of the total COVID-19 deaths, 76.23% are over 60 years, 22.47% are between 30 and 59 years, and 1.29% are below 30 years. The Epidemiology Unit states that 8,994 of the COVID-19 deaths are male and 6,955 deaths are female. Seventeen COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Thursday were male and six were female.
