Health officials state that 232 persons tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, raising Sri Lanka’s total COVID-19 case count to 661,285.
The previous day, 163 persons tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 2,736 PCR tests and 1,909 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Monday.
A total of 73,482 COVID-19 patients have been detected since 1 January and the country’s local cases include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.
In terms of imported cases, 7,241 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 138,549 persons from Colombo, 114,101 persons from Gampaha, 58,106 persons from Kalutara, 45,319 persons from Galle, and 31,406 persons from Kurunegala have tested positive for COVID-19.
COVID-19 detections during the third wave of the pandemic include 106,252 persons from Colombo, 95,567 persons from Gampaha, and 51,048 persons from Kalutara.
At present, 7,629 persons are under medical or home-based care and 904 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 51 persons were released from care yesterday, bringing the country’s COVID-19 recoveries to 637,187.
