Booster dose coverage in the country has risen to 35.6% among the population over 20 years, but a drop in daily vaccination numbers was seen with only 25,121 persons receiving a COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 5,200,047 persons have received the booster dose in the country. This includes 21,414 persons vaccinated on Sunday.
Health officials continue to urge the public to get vaccinated.
“All pregnant women can receive the booster dose three months after the second dose,” Family Health Bureau Director Dr. Chithramali de Silva said. She added that, despite this, there was a drop in the number of expectant mothers getting the booster dose.
The first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 16,647,015 persons and the second dose has been administered to 13,917,564 persons.
Our World in Data states that 77.41% of the total population has received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 64.73% has received the second dose.
On Sunday, 2,112 persons received the first dose of Pfizer and 1,063 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. A total of 2,212,267 persons have received the first dose of Pfizer and 513,216 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
The first dose of Sinopharm was administered to 244 persons on Sunday and the second dose was administered to 288 persons. In total, 11,991,206 persons have received the first dose of Sinopharm and 11,042,582 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to a total of 1,479,631 persons and the second dose has been administered to 1,418,593 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 804,801 persons have received the first dose of Moderna and 787,361 persons have received the second dose.
The first dose of Sputnik V has been administered to 159,110 persons and 155,812 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
