27 COVID-19 fatalities confirmed

  • 89 children; 60 pregnant women have died of COVID so far

Health officials confirmed 27 COVID-19 fatalities on Sunday, raising the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 14,641.

The COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Sunday include 13 persons over 60 years, 13 persons between 30 and 59 years, and one person below 30 years.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 76.52% of the total COVID-19 fatalities are over 60 years, 22.32% of the fatalities are between 30 and 59 years, and 1.16% of the fatalities are below 30 years.

Of the total COVID-19 fatalities, 8,205 are male and 6,436 are female.

14 COVID-19 deaths confirmed on Sunday were male and 13 were female.

According to Family Health Bureau Director Dr. Chithramalee De Silva, 89 children below 18 years have died of COVID-19 thus far. Sixty pregnant women are also among the country’s COVID-19 fatalities.
