Sri Lanka’s daily COVID-19 detections remained below 4,000 for the sixth consecutive day with 3,182 COVID-19 positive persons detected yesterday.
Since 1 September, between 3,000 and 4,000 COVID-19 patients have been detected daily and the country’s total COVID-19 detections currently stand at 465,949.
The patients detected yesterday include 3,173 persons from the New Year cluster, which has grown to 359,587 patients. The country’s local COVID-19 cases also include 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 8,250 persons from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.
The imported cases consist of 6,844 Sri Lankans and 328 foreigners.
This includes the 3,308 COVID-19 patients detected on Sunday, of which 3,287 were from the New Year cluster and 21 were from the Prisons cluster.
According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 11,403 PCR tests were carried out yesterday, while 13,396 PCR tests and 3,563 rapid antigen tests were carried out the day before. Of the country’s total COVID-19 detections, 102,606 are from Colombo, 84,475 are from Gampaha, 46,852 are from Kalutara, 25,787 are from Galle, and 22,380 are from Kurunegala.
COVID-19 detections during the third wave include 70,309 persons from Colombo, 65,941 persons from Gampaha, and 39,794 persons from Kalutara. The Epidemiology Unit states that 69,120 persons are currently under medical or home-based care, with hospitals monitoring 2,508 persons suspected of having COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 1,952 persons left hospitals yesterday, raising the country’s COVID-19 recoveries to 386,509.
