33 Lankan students from Wuhan released from full quarantine phase

The 33 Sri Lankan students who returned from Wuhan, China and quarantined at the Diyathalawa Army Camp due to the new COVID-19 virus were released yesterday, Army spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe said.

An Army bus carrying the students left the Diyathalawa Army Camp around 10.00 a.m for Army Headquarters in Akurugoda.They met the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at the Army Headquarters before leaving for their homes.

Following the coronavirus outbreak, the 33 Sri Lankans who were living in Wuhan, China, were brought to the island on 1 February and quarantined in a special unit set up in the Diyathalawa Army Camp for 14 days. They have not shown any symptoms of the coronavirus infection during the 14-day isolation period.
