35,661 persons vaccinated against COVID-19 on Sunday

The Epidemiology Unit states that 35,661 persons were vaccinated islandwide on Sunday, with only the first and second doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine administered.

The first dose of the vaccine was administered to 20,506 persons and the second dose to 15,155 persons.

In total, 1,931,714 persons have received the first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine and 851,969 persons have received both doses of the vaccine.

In addition to Sinopharm, 114,795 persons have received the Sputnik V first dose and 14,427 persons have received the Sputnik V second dose.

The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 925,242 persons and the second dose to 384,047 persons. 

Sri Lanka yesterday received 26,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which will be administered to persons awaiting the second dose of AstraZeneca.

“The Pfizer doses received [yesterday] will be administered in the Colombo Municipal Council area starting Thursday as the second dose for persons who received the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine,” Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said.

As of Sunday, the country’s COVID-19 immunisation program had administered the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 2,971,751 persons and both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to 1,250,443.
