Thirty-five COVID-19 patients were detected yesterday, raising the country’s COVID-19 case count to 663,195.
The previous day, 29 persons tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 898 PCR tests and 665 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Sunday.
A total of 75,588 COVID-19 patients have been detected since 1 January. The country’s local cases also include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster. In terms of imported cases, the Epidemiology Unit states that 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners have tested positive for COVID-19.
During the third wave of the pandemic, 106,887 patients from Colombo, 95,857 patients from Gampaha, and 51,181 patients from Kalutara were detected.
The district distribution of the total COVID-19 detections shows 139,184 cases from Colombo, 114,391 cases from Gampaha, 58,239 cases from Kalutara, 45,624 cases from Galle, and 31,496 cases from Kurunegala.
The country’s active cases dropped to 584 after 3,530 COVID-19 recoveries were deducted from the total. According to the Epidemiology Unit, the recoveries deducted yesterday were persons from the Tri-Forces, Police and prisons as well as those discharged from home-based care between 25 March and 24 April.
Three persons were discharged from treatment yesterday, the Epidemiology Unit states, adding that Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 recoveries have risen to 646,109.
