The Health Services Director General yesterday confirmed that 39 persons succumbed to the COVID-19 on Saturday, increasing the total COVID-19 death toll to 2,944.

Among those deceased were 12 females and 27 males. Three females were in the 26 to 59 age group and nine over 60-years-old, whilst among the male deceased one of the victims was aged below 30 years, nine persons between the 30 to 59 age group and 17 were over 60 years.

The majority of deaths were recorded in the age group of over 60 years, where 26 deceased were within this category.
