4 more COVID-19 patients up total to 3,287

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 3,287 with the identification of four patients yesterday. 

The total count includes 1,316 Sri Lankan arrivals from abroad and 54 foreign arrivals. As for the local cases, the Epidemiology Unit states 950 Navy personnel and their close contacts and 650 persons connected to the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre have been identified as COVID-19 patients.

Of the total cases, 186 are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals. This includes 63 persons at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), 57 persons at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 41 persons at the Iranawila Hospital. In addition to this, 33 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are also being monitored.

The number of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 3,088 and 18 persons, including three foreigners, were discharged from hospitals yesterday. The Epidemiology Unit states that nine persons from the NIID and nine persons from the Welikanda Base Hospitals were discharged.

Meanwhile, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) states that 47 persons left quarantine centres yesterday having completed the process. This brings the total number of persons to leave centres in the island to 43,612. A further 5,922 persons are currently undergoing quarantine at 65 centres managed by the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, and Sri Lanka Air Force.

The NOCPCO added that 78 persons from Qatar and 53 persons from Dubai arrived in the island yesterday and have been directed to quarantine centres.
