COVID-19 vaccines were administered to 42,786 persons on Sunday and Epidemiology Unit data shows that 94.3% of the population over 20 years has received both vaccine doses.
According to Our World in Data, 74.22% of the country’s population has received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 64.14% of the population has received the second dose as well.
The first dose of a vaccine has been administered to 15,956,438 persons and the second dose has been administered to 13,789,917 persons.
The third dose has been administered to 1,308,022 persons. This includes 41,470 persons vaccinated on Sunday.
Following the detection of the Omicron variant, health officials are urging the public to get the booster dose as well. “Initial reports show that regardless of the type of vaccine the first two doses were administered from, persons who receive the booster dose show a 75% increase in protection against Omicron variant,” Health Promotion Bureau Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said.
The first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 11,956,141 persons and the second dose of the vaccine has been administered to 10,961,884 persons. On Sunday, 252 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 642 persons received the second dose.
The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 188 persons on Sunday and the second dose was administered to 234 persons. A total of 1,556,755 persons have received the first dose of Pfizer and 466,267 persons have received the second dose as well.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,479,631 persons and the second dose has been administered to 1,418,593 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 804,801 persons have received the first dose of Moderna and 787,361 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
The first dose of Sputnik V has been administered to 159,110 persons and the second has been administered to 155,812 persons.
