42 Sri Lankans return to country from Nepal

A Sri Lanka Air Force C130 plane yesterday returned to Sri Lanka from Nepal carrying 42 Sri Lankans, following the massive earthquake which struck Nepal a few days ago. According to Air force sources, the aircraft left Sri Lanka on Sunday carrying emergency supplies and medical and relief workers to Nepal. However, the aircraft developed engine trouble which delayed its journey. Nevertheless, it was reported yesterday that the 42 Sri Lankans it was transporting arrived safely in Sri Lanka. After the earthquake the Sri Lankan Government took steps to bring back Sri Lankans residing in Nepal including several students. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu has established a hotline (009779851020057) for inquiries about Sri Lankan nationals residing in Nepal. The earthquake struck Nepal on Saturday killing thousands across four countries including India and Bangladesh. The current death toll from the natural disaster stands at 4,310.
