The Epidemiology Unit stated that 422,472 persons received the first or second dose of a COVD-19 vaccine on Monday.
Doses of AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Moderna were administered on Monday and a total of 10,309,855 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 2,448,361 persons have received the second dose as well.
Of the population over the age of 30, 89.7% have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 21.3% have received both doses. The entire population over age 30 has received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in Colombo, Gampaha, Kandy, Matale, and Polonnaruwa Districts.
On Monday, 203,515 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 18,483 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. The first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 8,284,463 persons in total, while both doses have been administered to 1,803,524 persons.
The first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 22,981 persons and the second dose to 174,985 persons on Monday. In total, 948,223 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 630,136 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
On Monday, 12 persons received the first dose of Pfizer and six persons received the second dose of Pfizer. The first dose of Pfizer has been administered to 201,507 persons and the second dose to 198 persons.
The first dose of Moderna has been administered to 716,581 persons, of which 2,490 doses were administered on Monday.
The Epidemiology Unit adds that 159,081 persons have received the first dose of Sputnik V and 14,503 persons have received the second dose of Sputnik V.
Meanwhile, State Minister of Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation Prof. Channa Jayasumana yesterday said vaccination of persons between 18 and 30 years will begin once all persons above the age of 30 are vaccinated. Added to this, vaccination of persons between ages 12 and 18 with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is currently being considered.
“Close to 7,000 persons with visa approval to go overseas received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in the past few days,” Cabinet Co-Spokesperson Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said.
