COVID-19 vaccines were administered to 52,979 persons on Saturday, and 93.7% of the country’s population over 20 years has received both vaccine doses.
According to Our World in Data, the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 73.97% of the country’s total population and the second dose has been administered to 63.71% of the population.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 15,910,650 persons have received the first dose of a vaccine and 13,705,311 persons have received the second dose.
The third dose has been administered to 454,093 persons, including 35,258 persons vaccinated on Saturday. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is being administered as a booster dose in the country.
According to Phar-maceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana, Sri Lanka is due to receive 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine today and 400,000 doses tomorrow. “The manufacturer has informed us that Sri Lanka will receive three million doses of Pfizer on a weekly basis from December,” he added.
The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 6,049 persons on Saturday and 408 persons received the second dose of the vaccine on Saturday. In total, the first dose of Pfizer has been administered to 1,529,594 persons and 454,093 persons have received the second dose.
The first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 11,937,514 persons and the second dose has been administered to 10,894,111 persons. On Saturday, 2,382 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 8,882 persons received the second dose.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,479,631 persons and the second dose has been administered to 1,418,593 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 804,801 persons have received the first dose of Moderna and 782,730 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine. The first dose of Sputnik V has been administered to 159,110 persons and 155,784 persons have received the second dose of Sputnik V.
