57 institutions to function under PM, 42 under President

• Gazette issued on subjects and functions allocated to 26 ministries
• Port City, SLT, BOI, ICTA among institutes to come under Defence Ministry
• PM in his capacity as Finance Minister gets 57 institutes including CBSL, PUCSL
• NGO Secretariat to come under Foreign Ministry

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in his capacity as Defence Minister will retain 42 institutions under his purview including Sri Lanka Telecom, the Board of Investment, Port City Economic Commission, according to the Gazette allocating subjects and functions for ministries issued yesterday.

Other institutes that will function under the purview of the President include the Information and Communication Technology Agency, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka and the Registration of Persons Department.

A total of 57 institutions will function under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who is also the Minister of Finance including the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

The Non-Governmental Organisations Secretariat which was previously under the Defence Ministry has been brought under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Subjects and functions have been allocated for 26 ministries in kneeing with the recent appointments made by the President.
