59 more COVID-19 deaths raise fatalities to 12,906

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 12,906 after health officials confirmed 59 more deaths on Wednesday.

Forty-seven COVID-19 deaths confirmed on Wednesday were over the age of 60, 11 persons were in the 30 to 59 age group, and one person below the age of 30.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 76.44% of the total fatalities are in the over-60 age group, 22.41% are in the 30 to 59 age group, and 1.15% of the fatalities are in the under-30 age group.

A total of 7,195 fatalities are male and 5,711 fatalities are female. Of the COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Wednesday, 31 are female and 28 are male. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 73.2% of the COVID-19 fatalities confirmed until 24 September were unvaccinated, 19.4% had received only received one dose, and 7.3% had received both doses.
