On 4 June, at the National Art Gallery in Colombo, Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Jean-Marin Schuh, Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzammil and Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy Dr. B.M.S. Batagoda, inaugurated the photo Untitled-1exhibition ‘60 SOLUTIONS Against Climate Change’ by the world-renowned Yann Arthus-Bertrand, (founder of the Good Planet Foundation), brought to you by the Embassy of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives and the Alliance Française de Kotte, in partnership with the French Agency for Development (AFD) and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka.

Over 100 visitors attended the event which took place under the patronage of Muzammil and Dr. Batagoda.

While France will host the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) in December 2015, AFD and the Good Planet Foundation have designed this exhibition for spreading information about innovative and effective solutions for combining the fight against climate change and sustainable economic development through a series of images and informative panels.

The aim of 60 SOLUTIONS is to raise awareness about the reality of climate change and to inform one and all about how to face the consequences of this central issue of our time. It also promotes practical examples of solutions to inspire positive action.

The exhibition is composed of scientific panels explaining climate change to all and comprises 21 photographs by Yann Arthus-Bertrand from his famous ‘Earth from Above’ series. It presents concrete initiatives in four sectors: cities-living together; agriculture- feeding the world; energy transition and efficiency; climate change adaptation. Each picture is accompanied by explanations

portraying positive and realistic solutions proposed by AFD to fight climate change. Three short documentary films by AFD will also be screened along with the exhibition, which will tour several locations in Sri Lanka and the Maldives with the Alliance Française Network until November 2015, the eve of the COP21.
