70th National Day celebrations held in Sydney

The 70th National Day celebrations were held in Sydney, Australia on 5 February at The Great Hall of the Sydney University attended by over 400 invitees. 

MP Scott Farlow, representing the Prime Minister of New South Wales, together with many MPPs, Consuls General and Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Australia were amongst the distinguished invitees.

Consul General for Sri Lanka to New South Wales and Queensland Lal Wickrematunge made the welcome speech. Prof. Siran Deraniyagala made the keynote speech.

This was followed by a dance sequence by the Lingalayam Dance Academy and a sequence of songs by Voiceprint,the acapella group. SriLankan Airlines was the major sponsor.
