77 people still missing after floods and landslides

According to the Disaster Management Center, 77 people are still missing after last month’s devastating floods and landslides.

The latest Situation Report issued by the DMC on noon on Tuesday confirms the deaths of 213 people in 15 districts of the country and lists 77 people as missing in three districts, Kalutara, Matara and Ratnapura, where 48, 14 and 15 persons are missing respectively.

According to the report 6,249 people from 1,849 families are still sheltered at 96 safe locations. From those, 4,163 are from the Ratnapura District.

A total of 575,989 people from 148,024 families have been affected in 11 districts.

According to the DMC, 3,123 houses have been totally destroyed and 20,133 houses are partially damaged.
