The 10th certificate awarding ceremony of the A.Y.S. Gnanam Construction Training Academy – Dambulla, was held recently under the distinguished patronage of Brigadier W.M.J.R.K. Senarathna, Commandant, Centre for Army Vocational Training – Kala Oya. The prestigious event saw the awarding of internationally and locally recognised NVQ Certificates to SL Army personnel channelled through the Centre for Army Vocational Training, Kala Oya.

The Chief Guest Brigadier W.M.J.R.K. Senarathna was joined by Athula Galagoda former Chairman of The National Construction Association of Sri Lanka, Janaka Ranaraja, District Manager – Matale, National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), and representatives of Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC. Mouly Gunarathna, Consultant Engineer of Tokyo Cement Group, who spearheads all training and development activities undertaken by the A.Y.S. Gnanam Construction Training Academy, highlighted the far-reaching impact of obtaining the globally recognised NVQ certification in Masonry, which opens up new avenues to add more value to their lives with increased earning potential.
The yeoman service rendered by the Training Academy has helped to broad-base formal training and professional accreditation among construction craftsmen. Since its inception it has produced over 1,000 trained and accredited masonry professionals over the years. Hailed as one of Tokyo Cement Group’s foremost citizenship initiatives. The A.Y.S. Gnanam Construction Training Academy was set up in a bid to uplift the standards of masonry craftsmen from all corners of the country.
